🍍🍍🍍Pineapple Ukuleles!

🍍🍍🍍Pineapples! Pineapples! Pineapples! Perhaps you own one or two in your own personal collection or maybe you've thought about trying one out and wanted to know something about them. To start the pineapple's design was patented first by Samuel K. Kamaka in Hawaii, in 1928. The design and style proved to be popular and over the years others have produced their own pineapple-styled ukulele in various scales and tonewoods. Some that we carry are Kala, Makala, Ohana, Kamoa, Mainland Ukes, Pono, Ko Aloha, Ko'olau, Makai, Magic Fluke's Flea and sort of a pineapple shape from Pepe Romero's Tiny Tenor . Ukulele Sizes

Ukuleles Sizes When you mention ukuleles, most people think of the small standard soprano size. That's understandable since the Tin Pan Alley scene popularized the size during the first ukulele wave during the 1920s and 1930s. Soon though, the larger sizes came on the scene when Arthur Godfrey, an American TV personality, preferred the larger size of a baritone.  Surprisingly, ukuleles come in a variety of sizes, each with its own unique characteristics and sound. The four main ukulele sizes are soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. Soprano ukuleles are the smallest and most traditional size. They have a compact body and short scale length, which gives them a bright, punchy sound. Soprano ukuleles are also the lightest and easiest to carry, making them a popular choice for beginners and players on the go. Concert ukuleles are slightly larger than sopranos, with a longer scale length and a wider body, giving them a warmer and louder sound than sopranos. Concerts are also a good cho

2017 Winter NAMM Impressions and NEW Items at Uke Republic Always a fun time going to southern California and attending the 2017 NAMM show but it's also serious work going over all the new products, trying them out and choosing new things to introduce at Uke Republic . Some of these items are available now and others will be made available throughout the year. To start off, there was plenty to see and try. New ukuleles were abounding, so here are some highlights. First, let's start with Blackbird. Blackbird Guitars and Ukuleles Blackbird continues to impress us with their innovations using their own Ekoa material to produce their new tenor -Farallon and concert Clara. The sound is so sweet and it's nice to know it's made from a sustainable and green material.  Joe Luttwak (L) of Blackbird Guitars and Mike McQueen of UKE Republic Kala Brand Ukulele Kala introduces an eight string baritone from their cedar/acacia line. UKE Republic was the first to premier the Ohana CK-35-8 Solid Mahogany Taro Patch Concert Ukulele at the Tampa Bay Ukulele Getaway 2016 . It was met with much applause and interest. Daniel Ward takes it out for a spin (below). Ohana Taro Patch Eight String Concert CK-35-8 Its here! First to Uke Republic, Ohana brings us another classic- Taropatch ! These haven't seen production for some time. Made popular in the early part of the 20th century, this eight string concert is tuned in unison C, so gg CC EE AA. Scale is concert. The tone is ethereal with its chorus like tones driven by an all solid mahogany body. Gorgeous notes pour out with either finger style or strumming. We love the featured slot head with classical styled geared machines. The satin finish is smooth and compliments this rich toned solid mahogany instrument. *Uke Republic includes professional set up for optimal tone and playability using genuine Aquila strings.
